Mariko: Married Mentos right after high school; consummated their wedding at Sanrio Puroland, right when Badtz-Maru jumps out of the water. Endured a rocky marriage all through their twenties, but her unshakeable steadfastness helped her husband keep his sanity and discover a new sense of self-worth in the process. Though she loves Mentos madly, his premature middle age makes him a less than satisfactory sex partner-- thus, she feels driven to concentrate on her wedding ring to keep from doing anything naughty to her oldest, dearest, sexiest friend, Reiko. Mariko has no children, although a malpracticed abortion led her to a stint in the Flying-Suit Girls for a short while.
Potchari: Possibly the most successful graduate of the class. Kept up with her sumo studies during college, aided by her trainer Shige and her sparring partner Bob (not shown; busy in kitchen). Enjoyed a very successful sumo career. At age 30, at her top weight of 575 lbs (known at the time as 'The Elegant Haiku") she made worldwide headlines and the Guinness record for Insurmountable Odds, by defeating her longtime rival, 747 lb. Zuna Yoko (alias "Jumbo Jet") for the title of yokozuna, while simultaneously suffering cardiac arrest and giving birth to her second child. Has since slimmed to a more manageable 375 lbs, which has not hurt her new career as spokemodel for her husband's restaurant chain.
Yui: Not shown; didn't graduate. Rumored to have returned to Central America, after disappearing through a portal in the school library's copy of Mao Tse-Tung's Little Red Book.
Mentos: A sad case. After his marriage to Mariko and the beginning of a happy young playboy's lifestyle, underwent a heartbreaking premature middle age, causing him to lose his roguish good looks and most of his hair. The double edge to this sword was his realization of how much his ego suffered when women weren't falling all over him, and his subsequent pre-midlife crisis and ensuing spending spree destroyed his stock in Freshmaker Industries, in addition to nearly destroying his marriage. He's in the process of pulling his life together, after the protracted realization that he was married to someone who wasn't just attracted to his looks... currently, he's employed by his own family, caring for the wolves that once cared for him. Ironically, this is the first time in his life that he feels really happy.
Shige: Wedded Potchari immediately after college, and has been her trainer all through her sumo career. Despite his numerous hospitalizations for malnutrition (he's got this bad habit of giving his wife his own dinner), the two are still madly in love. Together, they invested the sumo income in a new restaurant chain, "Mudflaps," which features tight-clothed waitresses with chubby figures and cheerful demeanors. Surprisingly to many, Mudflaps has become a huge success, with outlets in Tokyo, Sydney, London, Paris, Chicago, New York, and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (a metropolis in the new state of Disneyland, which emerged from California's ashes seven years after its demise). Outside of the business deals and publicity appearances, has his hands full as a stay-at-home dad to his and Potchari's three children.
Toshio: After high school, went on to college to major in economics, during which he entered a 'chrysalis' stage, both figuratively and literally. When he emerged, he'd not only grown two feet and a body that turns even the mens' heads, but had turned his talent for pointing out errors into an uncanny business sense that allowed him to become the tycoon he now is. He now owns Matsubara Mecha Corporation and is planning on acquiring Freshmaker Industries next. He's still single, which, as he's now pointing out to Reiko, is a severe continuity gap.
Kenichi: He's in a prison uniform, wearing a black armband, and neither Waterbaby nor Naomi are anywhere to be seen-- you figure it out. He lost them both, along with the minimal respect afforded him by the rest of M.H.S.S.P.E.A., and his freedom, in a certain Pankration match which he'd prefer not to discuss now, thankyouverymuch. For extra credit: Which of those three losses does Kenichi actually miss?
Momoe: Planned to move to America after high school, thinking that perhaps larger women were more appreciated there. (Unfortunately, the only apparent difference between Japanese and American minds is that the Americans yell their opinions of your looks from across the street.) As a last-ditch effort to lose weight, invested in Prof. Gokiburi's newest invention: a nanotech blood implant that would convert all excess food intake into energy. It worked for a week... but after a particularly decadent binge, the nano went rogue and began leeching off her non-fatty tissues. To prevent from becoming entirely mechanical, Momoe must now eat several times her own body weight per day to keep the nano stupefied. She may be a grotesque cyborg, but she can eat as much as she wants and she still stays thin-- Momoe has never been happier.
Kanako: Graduated, went to college, returned to Musashi High to teach English. (The irony!) Her cohort Erika's whereabouts are as yet unknown, but it's rumored that she made an experiment in non-vicarious living and has not yet returned from Bulgaria.
Principal Aho: Still principal of Musashi High, although he took a leave of absence some years back for personal reasons. (An opening had cropped up to impersonate Kofi Annan for a year.) A pillar of dignity and resolve in the community, role model for wonderful human beings everywhere.
Inari: Still a teacher, and still learning all she can from Aho about human lifestyles. (Obviously, twenty years wasn't enough.) She now has a protegee, Shinin, who has been seeking a more humane lifestyle after his prison term (see entry on Kenichi).
