Yay, the forum's back! Now we can comment on the comics and stuff! But wait, we missed a whole lot of them! Where will we comment on those? Wait, what about right here? Hey, that's a great idea! You are truly a brilliant mastermind, Korota! Oh, stop.
...Aaaaanyways. I thought a thread where people could comment on strips they didn't get to comment about when it was today's strip would be a good idea. I'll start us off.
Strip 460: 1. Hey, it's Cheesecake! What is she, a succubus? 2. Does this mean Principal Hades won't be showing up again? Or does it just mean that they'll end up going on ANOTHER field trip to Valhalla and leave him frozen in an arctic wasteland? It seems unlikely, but if you take into account the comic being 5000 years in the future, it seems possible they'd start recycling field trip ideas at some point.
Strip 461: Proportional sexism of a spider. LOL.
Strip 463: I can't figure out who the jagged-pointed, 'mechanical sounding' balloon belongs too.
Strip 464: It's Sesame Street meets Animal Planet! Awesome.
Strip 465: Auuugh. It's funny but so wrong.
Strip 466: "Crispy Green Celery" brand fudge! Denial never tasted so good!
Edit: Fixed the comic numbers for the ones I'm talking about. _________________

Er, 463. http://muertitos.comicgenesis.com/d/20070605.html Second panel, second balloon. _________________

Ahh.
I think that belongs to the tiny bald Jehova-character. |

Yeah, that's who it was. I was confused because in the LAST panel, he doesn't have the jagged word balloons.
Also, I JUST got the joke in the second panel. It's a Bible reference!
On a side note, I was wondering, what's the reasoning behind making the Judeo-Christian religious figures trailer park hicks? _________________

| The Siffers and Hovas were originally two clans of hillbillies, and it was based on those old multigenerational hillbilly feuds like the Hatfields and McCoys, based on a falling-out between the family patriarch. At some point Angel Pie's family went from living out in the wilderness to living in a trailer park, which kind of muddies the original intent, but eh. They're angels and devils, they fight, it works. I'm waiting to make a shoulder joke until I have one I really like, though. |

Wait, I'm confused. I thought they were demigods, not dead people who were hillbillies in life. And it doesn't really explain the decision to make God and Satan and angels and devils into hillbillies/white trash. I figured it was some kind of social commentary, or some ironic twist about how Christianity is big and powerful in the living world, but here they're just a bunch of hicks who are dumb and don't do anything. _________________

BONUS OBSERVATION!
No. 439, last panel: Did it always have Honeo saying 'I've got skiis.'? For some reason, I was sure he was saying 'I've got skills.'
Also, I just noticed that storyline also seems to reveal that Principal Hades isn't the real Hades after all. I'm the most unobservant person evr. _________________

Well, despite the fact that Angel Pie actually LOST weight and ended up normal sized again (I actually kind of thought some emergency stuffing would be in order here) I liked the resolution to that whole story arc.
Good job, S!
And wow, talk about foresight.....but even you couldn't have predicted how screwed up Britney would end up being.
YEESH. |
